Biography
Alison
grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. She always knew
that she belonged in a place that was a little bit out of
the ordinary. A place where she could explore nature, culture,
people, music, education, love and self. She moved to California
at the age of 18 and ended up in San Francisco. She put
herself through college doing odd jobs. Finally she graduated
from San Francisco State University with a self designed
major. Singing, acting, dancing, and global peace studies.
Alison
has dappled in a variety of creative outlets such as songwriting,
photography, mosaics, collages, interior design, jewelry
making, and nature sculptures. She began writing in a diary
at the age of seven and explored the art of gluing seashells
together at the age of six. At twelve she took her first
stunning photograph which convinced her that she had an
eye for it and has been photographing ever since.
In
recent years she began assisting friends through the birthing
process. She brought her camera with her and found that
people loved to have this precious time of pregnancy captured
on film. Since then she has taken many pictures of pregnant
women, couples, babies, animals, in the most romantic and
comfortable of settings, nature. Alison prefers to photograph
outside using the sun to light her subjects, shooting in
color and black and white.
As well, she enjoys collecting antiques and old unique items.
Bringing nature inside the home has always been part of
Alison’s natural expression found in her style of
decorating, making nature sculptures from drift wood, and
seashells, to photographing nature. She has decided to break
free from working for others do what she loves for a living,
which is all that is in this website.
Photography
Her favorite subjects are people and animals in nature.
Alison is drawn towards the lovely images of smiling babies,
proud moms and dads, beautiful pregnant women, the sensuality
of two people together or alone, and the ever loyal cats,
dogs, birds etc…
She likes to go somewhere outside where you feel comfortable
such as a quiet beach, under a cloudy or sunny sky, in a
meadow of flowers, or amongst the trees. She prefers to
take 2 rolls of color, and two rolls of black and white.
Antiques
and Uniques
Ali loves collecting wild, lovely, old, funky, unique and
antique items from estate sales, yard sales, and antique
sales. You can get an idea of her tastes by viewing the
photos in this section. They are colorful, playful and quite
varied. Because all of these items are properly aged they
may have some wear and tear.
Jewelry,
Baubles
Because she is drawn to decorating things, Ali loves decorating
the body with beads. She enjoys combining colors and is
particularly attracted to glass beads that capture the light
as well as African trading beads, and beads made of semi-precious
stones as well.
Wisdom,
Blessings, and Inspiration
With fabric found at estate sales , Ali has collected pieces
of homemade needlework and incorporated them with hand stitched
wisdom which she has gathered from life’s travels,
framing them with old and antique frames.
Nature
Collages, Sculptures
Made of drift wood, seashells, moss, dried flowers, mushrooms
and more, Ali has created wonderful pieces of art which
allows other nature lovers to bring the ocean and the outside
into the inside…of your home.
